Micro funding

How we help
CongoAction provided funds for a programme which gave small loans to help families earn the money needed to pay for their school bills and family needs. The aim, as always, was to help the people help themselves. Here are a few of their stories both in their original French and with a translation.
This programme has been discontinued as our priority is now to focus on the rebuilding of Kavumba primary school.
HISTOIRES DES QUELQUES BENEFICIAIRES DES MICRO- CREDITS
(Septembre 2010- Septembre 2011) OCTROYES PAR CONGO ACTION AUX GROUPES DE PEDI

HISTORIES OF SOME OF THE BENEFICIARIES OF MICRO-CREDITS GIVEN BY CONGO ACTION
TO THE « PEDI » ASSOCIATION

I am ETIENNE CISHASHA President of the Group BUNVIKANE / CIBINGU.
I received $50 loan from Congo Action on the 7/09/2010 that I invested into selling sugar cane sticks. After 12 months, I had in hand a capital of $180, after having re-imbursed my initial loan . I was also able to pay for my children’school fees for a year.  Unfortunately, armed rebels came into my home and robbed me of everything, money and other commodities that I had in my house. I was left with three of the rabbits that I had bought with some little savings. At this moment in time, the three rabbits have produced small ones, and I am hoping to have at least a dozen of them in 6 months’ time.
I would like to say THANK YOU to Congo Action for the support they gave me and I would like to ask them to continue lending money to other group members who have not yet received a loan.
Merci beaucoup a Martine, merci a Congo Action.
I am CIBALONZO M’NTIBONERA, member of the BUNKIVANE group. I received $30 loan from Congo Action. I started selling coal in small quantities. I made enough profit to buy clothes for my children, my husband, and myself. I was also able to buy extra food at the market to feed my family. I managed to re-imburse the $30 in good time, and was left with some little capital. THANK YOU TO CONGO ACTION for their  support
I am Charlotte M’MUDERHWA from the BUNKIVANE group.  Since Sept 2010, I started selling haricot beans with the $30 received from Congo action.  With the profit I made from selling these, I was able to pay for my four children’school fees. My husband is very proud of what I have achieved and continues to encourage me. At the moment, I still have $15 in pocket, having paid back what I owed to Congo Action. Congratulations to all the Congo Action group
